Construction is excellent and it has room for plenty of everything. The only negative is that there is no external pocket that fits a bass pedal. But the for me the pedal does fit in the top of the main bag nested with the stands. Best $$ I have spent in quite a while..

I have a Mapex Orion set that I gig with every weekend and needed cases that I could count on to protect my drums even when other band members or fans "help" me! My old kit got pretty scratched up in the mixture of bags and cheap cases I had before, but the SKB's are excellent. They do cost more than others, but I think it's worth it. Each tom case fits in the next smallest case so that I'm able to put them away in the corner at rehearsals and gigs without taking up too much space. I recommend these above any cases I have seen.

I just recently purchased this awesome kit from Amazon and may I say it was the best drums I have ever heard. Coming from an electronic, Roland V-Drums for many year, I shined away from acoustic drums mainly of the difficulty in making these acoustic things sound decent. I was blown away with my first DW experience. This is by far the best sounding drums I have ever heard, even out of tune. I got these last week and fell in love. No wonder virtually all well-known artists are switching to DW.

The Sound:
Love the kick drum sound. It is dry, fat, you can feel it in your chest, stomach and every where. The toms are just rounded, warm with superb sound. I tried them all from high ends Yamaha, Pearl, Tampa etc... the sounds from those drums are literally like you are hitting the trash can. Again coming from an electronic drums, I am very critical of the sounds and let me tell you that DW is just God of drums. I can't imagine how these drums would sound when properly EQ and mic. I am a true believer in DW and have switched to DW for life.

Comparison:
To compare DW with others, I would say it is like driving a ferrari vs. a Ford Pinto. Another way to think about these drums is like playing with Apple MacBook Pro (unibody late 2009 model) vs. a high end Windows PC :)

If you are thinking about getting these drums, run and buy them. I promise you will love love DW. Got to love Amazon to offer such a fantastic product.

I got this drum set for my 5 year old. The assembly was a bit challenging, even with the instructional DVD. The finished product is very cute but rather flimsy & unstable--in particular the high-hat, stool, and toms. It is a lot of fun for a kid to bang on, but it is more a toy than an instrument. I would not recommend it for older children (8+) who want to learn to play an actual drum set.

This is an ok drum set for a beginner. The cymbal is very cheap and after a while starts to bend if you keep hitting it in the same spot. Snare needs lots of tuning and rings when you hit a tom. The toms are good but I would recommend to get some moon gel (MG4 Moon Gel Drum Damper Pads) for them so that don't ring as much. The bass is good if you put a wool sweater or blanket in it to lessen the ringing. The cymbal stand is ok but the nut to hold the cymbal on needs to be tightened once in a while.

We bought this set in Green for our boys for Christmas and are absolutely thrilled! The boys love it!! And although the assembly instructions were a little on the vague side, my husband was able to put it together relatively easily in about a half an hour. We purchased this mainly for our 3 year old - who has been interested in drums ever since he started watching The Fresh Beat Band - but our 9 year old also gets use out of it. Honestly, even my husband uses it! It's perfectly sized for our 3 year old. And even though we knew it would be on the small side for our older boy (age recommendations are 3-8), he's still able to have a lot of fun with it and doesn't have much of a problem sitting at it. It's a great set to learn on and sounds authentic!! EXCELLENT quality for the price!

We purchased these and the Djembe for my kids. While the Djembe has a wonderful, rich sound, the Bongos sound flat. To be clear, I am not a drummer, so I suspect I am doing something wrong. I did try holding them several different ways, but couldn't quite get the sound I wanted. Since I want my kids to be able to play these easily, I will be sending them back. As far as workmanship and durability, they seem to be well crafted and sturdy. However, I would recommend trying other Remo kids drums instead.

4 Tips to Make Hip Hop Beats Quick and Easy Without Breaking the Bank

So you want to make hip hop beats? Well the trick is that there really isn't a trick at all. Of course beyond starting with a solid beat and then adding layers of sound (not too much) to make the perfect mix, you need to find the right equipment for the job. Fortunately with today's incredible technology you don't need to buy a single piece of hardware, and even better, you don't need to know a whole lot about music theory.

Tip #1: Always start with the bear minimum. This means that you never want to overwhelm yourself with a ton of equipment that will cause a ten month learning curve. So yeah, you might be making great hip hop beats in about 6 months with hours and hours of practice, but what good does that do you right now? What you want to do is think simple.

Tip #2: Make sure you don't spend more than you need to. This day and age, there are a tone of cheap software programs (some of which cost less than $30 bucks and require nothing more than a high-speed internet connection) that can get you up and running in just minutes. Yes, you heard me right, minutes from now you can have access to thousands of drum sounds and samples on a 16-track sequencer. You can even export your creations to mp3 so you can put the beat on your i-tunes, transfer it to a mixer to lay down the vocals, or burn it to CD to show your friends. The point is that there is no reason to spend a grand when you're starting out, in fact it's not recommended and just plane stupid.

Tip #3: Don't overdo the beat. After you buy an inexpensive software beat maker for your hip hop, you don't want to overdo the beat by being a perfectionist. Believe it or not, being a perfectionist is not going to win you any points in the hip hop game. Listen to some of your favorite hip hop and I bet you'll be surprised to find that it's simple, unique and even gritty. What separates good hip hop from the rest isn't hours of work, but creativity and moments of clarity when everything comes together. Remember that most people aren't going to hear that extra hi-hat you spent an hour getting just right. What they will hear is the hook and the beat and the lyrics. Those are the things to focus on.

Tip #4: Remember that you're not trying to win a Grammy. Yes you heard me correctly, don't pretend to be a master music genius when you aren't, and if you were, you wouldn't be reading this article in the first place, sorry. But that doesn't mean you aren't creative and don't have a lot to offer the hip hop universe. All you need to do is find your niche and remember that you're not out to win a Grammy, but to make a solid beat that you can lay some lyrics over. And above all else - have fun!

Remember that these tips are going to be a little different for every person, but just try to remember that the general idea of this article is to show you that you shouldn't confuse the forest for the trees. In other words, get crazy, be creative, find your inspiration and the rest will come into place. And above all else, remember that the equipment does not make the musician, it's actually the other way around.

Extreme Drum Hardware Makeover is a fun new video to show drummers how they can customize their drum kits using Gibraltars endless hardware options for drum customization. The inspiration for the video came from my own experiences. I am constantly building and rebuilding my hardware and rack set ups to explore new solutions for drummers to fit any playing style or any drum kit. I usually don't review stuff, but this bag is the greatest! It's perfectly balanced and stands upright when loading and unloading stands. No bending over to pack up at the end of a long night! Construction is excellent and it has room for plenty of everything. The only negative is that there is no external pocket that fits a bass pedal. But the for me the pedal does fit in the top of the main bag nested with the stands. Best $$ I have spent in quite a while..
